Alleviation of Heat Stress in Tomato by Exogenous Application of Sulfur

نویسندگان

چکیده

Temperature is a key factor influencing plant growth and productivity, however sudden increases in temperature can cause severe consequences terms of crop performance. We evaluated the influence elementary sulfur application on physiology two tomato genotypes (“Ahmar” “Roma”) grown chambers (at 25 45 °C). Plants were sprayed with 2, 4, 6, 8 ppm days after sowing (untreated plants kept as control). “Roma” cultivar receiving 6 exhibited maximal shoot root biomass values followed by those 4 under both conditions. Maximal CO2 index, photosynthetic rate, transpiration greenness index (188.1 µmol mol−1, 36.3 m−2 s−1, 1.8 H2O 95 SPAD, respectively) observed at °C, indicating positive influences physiology. Similarly, maximized proline, nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium contents leaves temperatures. The differences between control sulfur-treated heat stress indicate possible role mitigating stress. Overall, our results suggest that best dose to alleviate enhance morphological, physiological, biochemical attributes plants.

Alleviation of Drought Stress Effects by Exogenous Application of Spermidine and Salicylic Acid on Hollyhock (Alcea rosea)

Drought is one of the most important environmental factors limiting the cultivation of ornamental plants in the green space. The effects of spermidine and salicylic acid on hollyhock (Alcea rosea L.)under drought stress were investigated. At first, the plants were sprayed with 3 doses of spermidine and 3 doses of salicylic acid (control, 100, 200 and 400 μM) for three consecut...

Alleviation of Adverse Effects of Copper on Allium cepa L. by Exogenous Ascorbic Acid Application

Abstract In this study ameliorative effects of ascorbic acid (0.5 mM) on onion (Allium cepa L. cv. Red Azarshahr) under copper stress (Cu: 6.5 μM) were studied. Fresh weights of leaves and roots were reduced in seven week old plants under excess copper condition. Cu stress also reduced membrane stability index in leaves. There was a considerable increase in H2O2 content and lipid peroxidation i...

Alleviation of Osmotic Stress Effects by Exogenous Application of Salicylic or Abscisic Acid on Wheat Seedlings

The aim of the study was to assess the role of salicylic acid (SA) and abscisic acid (ABA) in osmotic stress tolerance of wheat seedlings. This was accomplished by determining the impact of the acids applied exogenously on seedlings grown under osmotic stress in hydroponics. The investigation was unique in its comprehensiveness, examining changes under osmotic stress and other conditions, and t...
